TOTALS: 18314 (14165) / 13471 (10724)
Mins / 90: 203.48 (157.38) / 149.67 (119.15)
These are the total number of minutes each has spent on the pitch since Defoe joined in the 2003/04 season and then shown as games (total minutes divided by number of minutes in a game). The first figure is all games, the figure in brackets is PL games only……..
Robbie Keane: 203.48 games / 108 goals = 1 goal every 1.88 games
PL Games: 157.38 games / 78 goals = 1 goal every 2.01 games
Jermain Defoe: 149.69 games / 85 goals = 1 goal every 1.76 games
PL games: 119.15 games / 62 goals = 1 goal every 1.92 games
Marc goes on to say that both players have a good scoring record, but not great and not in the same league as James Peter Greaves, Gary Linker or Jurgen Klinsmann.
So there we have it, beyond any argument, Defoe has a better goals to games ratio than Keane…..but both have made huge contributions to the club.
